Malta Library Summer Reading Program

"Reading By Design"

Kickoff and Registration for all ages: Thursday, June 8 from 4-8 pm at the library.  Everyone will be registering, tie dying your summer reading book bags, and enjoying ice cream sundaes and Girl Scout cookies.  (Adults wanting to tie dye a bag will need to pay a $10.00 fee due to costs.  There will be no dying of other articles.)


See you at Malta Days on Saturday, June 10 from noon - ? in the park.  From 11:30 - 12:30, Mr. Steve will perform on stage (lots of giveaways as usual).  The first 100 kids to show up will receive free ice cream.
From 12:30 - 1:30, Mr. Steven will be under the library tent creating balloon animals for all the kids.
(The library building will be closed this day - see you at the park)


Kids’ Programming Events
3 yrs – 5th grade

Tu: 6/13 10 am      Hilly Billy Science (L)   ages K - 5th grades

Tu: 6/20  10 am     Discovery Center Museum (HS) ages 3 - 8 yrs

Tu: 6/27  10 am     Tim Adamz - Balloon workshop for kids - all ages

Week of July 4th no program

Tu: 7/11  10 am     DeKalb County Farm Bureau - Lets Create a Garden (HS)  all ages but parents must accompany and assist those under 8 years of age

Tu:  7/18  10 am      Geoff Akins - Bubble Wonders (HS) all ages

Tu:  7/25  10 am    "Create Your Own Robot from Junk"  (HS)  all ages but parents must accompany and assist those under 8 years of age

Tu: 8/1  10 am          "Absolute Science (Kids will make their own rockets and fire them outside)  (HS)  recommend K- 5th grades.  Parents must accompany and assist those under 8 years of age


There will be no formal closing program this year.  Kids will simply come in between August 1 and August 5, bring their reading logs, and select one of four prize packages if they have completed the program.
